Ceddi Plaza

In a city overrun by plazas and shopping centers, Ceddi Plaza was probably Abuja’s first real mall experience. When it opened its doors for the first time in 2005, this grand display of architectural brilliance boasted about 50 specialty shops and offices consisting of service providers, movie theatres, a massive book and media store, a restaurant, and a café, among others. Everyone wanted to go to Ceddi Plaza every day. You’d hardly find a place to sit and sometimes even stand. The corridors and hallways and elevators were constantly filled with people feeding their eyes and taking in the splendor of the whole center.

Ceddi Plaza was the first of its kind in Abuja not just because it was a number of specialty shops in one convenient location, but primarily because it boasted Abuja’s first cinema. Finally, Abuja residents had somewhere to go to watch newly released movies on the big screen instead of waiting for the DVD to come out or for it to show on the dish. This was an added bonus to the apple store, the game centre, the music store, and all the clothes and accessories stores.

Over the years, stores have come and gone, and the crowds have dwindled, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Ceddi Plaza has somehow gone from Abuja’s most visited mall to a place where more reserved people can go for a quiet day out. Silverbird Cinemas is currently operating there, as well as the game centre, which sometimes hosts group game tournaments, and Bon Café, one of the originals, is very much still in operation. If you’re a glass half full kind of person, you could even refer to a vist to Cddi Plaza today as a more exclusive mall experience.

You can visit the clothing stores, see a movie, have your dry cleaning done at DryClinic, cut your hair or get your nails done at Imani Salon, take a short personal makeup course at House of Tara, and even consult an optician at Opticka Vision. You can enjoy an exquisite dining at the Nkoyo Restaurant, sample and buy fine wine at The Wine Cellar, buy something for the children at the LEGO store, or just sit on one of the available benches and take in the scenery. Health enthusiasts will love the Suh’Juiced stand where you can get fresh juice, crepes, and waffles and ice cream that you actually watch them make. The GNC Wellness shop will meet all your health needs, and if you feel like doing a little bit of shopping for the home, the INVIVO supermarket is available to meet your desires.  – Plot 264, Tafawa Balewa Way, Central Business District, Abuja.
